M.F.A. Sound Design Degree Requirements

All M.F.A. Sound majors design stage productions in a variety of theatres, produce music recordings in a professional studio, and create sound effects, dialog and music for video/film projects.  Students will work to actively design productions with Kansas City professional theatres like Unicorn Theatre, Coterie Theatre and Kansas City Actors Theatre.  Students will work in a variety of spaces on campus and in Kansas City.  Students will have Sound experiences with Kansas City Repertory Theatre.  Successful completion of this rigorous training culminates in attending the National Design Portfolio Review in New York and the Design Showcase West in Los Angeles by presenting the sound professional portfolio to industry professionals on both coasts.
