Mr. Baker currently serves as Development Director for KCUR-FM, Kansas City’s public radio station, as well as Adjunct Lecturer for UMKC Theatre. Prior to this appointment, he served in arts management positions for thirty-five years.
He held positions as Managing Director of the Indiana Repertory Theatre in Indianapolis for four years and General Manager and Managing Director of Missouri Repertory Theatre (now Kansas City Repertory Theatre) for fourteen years. As Regional Representative for the National Endowment for the Arts, he served two chairmen, Frank Hodsoll and John Frohnmeyer, and he also held positions as Director of Research and Field Development for Mid-America Arts Alliance. Mr. Baker also serves as a consultant for arts organizations, foundations and public agencies, helping to assess program initiatives, develop strategic plans, and facilitate public meetings.
Early in his career, Mr. Baker was on the staff of the nation’s largest public accounting firm, he has worked as an actor, a director, and administrative manager for nonprofit theaters, and he also held teaching positions at Villanova and St. Joseph’s University. Mr. Baker holds three academic degrees: a B.S. in Accounting, an M.A. in Theatre, and an M.P.A. (Masters in Public Administration).>
